The environmental behavior and migration patterns of antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) have aroused considerable research interest. However, there are few studies on the effects of corresponding and non-corresponding pollutants on the fate of ARGs in the coastal environment. In this study, in the context of corresponding and non-corresponding pollutants, the distribution of intI1, sul1, sul2, qnrS and aac(6')-Ib in the water and sediment samples of Laizhou Bay was analyzed. The abundance of intI1, sul1 and sul2 genes showed a significant downward trend from inland estuaries to coastal areas. There is a strong positive correlation between the abundance of sul1/sul2 and sulfa antibiotic residues, intI1 and sul1/sul2 in the sediments. Statistical analysis shows that non-corresponding pollutants are partially related to ARG abundance. These results indicate that non-corresponding pollutants may have direct or indirect effects on the abundance of ARGs and intI1 in Laizhou Bay.
